Unplugged

Focus on energy and climate change

This school wide energy audit can take the school quite literally by storm and really made a dint in the school's carbon footprint.

In this workshop, participants will make an easy-to-implement plan to make the school more energy efficient and reduce their school's (and therefore all the students' and the staffs’) carbon footprint. Participants will learn where the energy they use comes from, explore the pros and cons of different energy sources, and see the connection between their personal energy consumption and climate change.

In small groups we’ll move around the building auditing energy use, looking at where it's used, how it's used, when it's used and when it’s wasted. Once the participants have identified how we can save energy, they’ll come up with an action plan to make it happen.

Venue: This workshop is predominantly classroom based, but we'll need to be able to move around the school with small groups of students, visiting different rooms to document the school's current energy use.
